H.R. No. 2379 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Joanna D. Sánchez has ably served the people of Texas as an education fellow in the office of State Representative Mary González during the 84th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Sánchez has provided vital assistance in handling a variety of challenging tasks related to educational policies; in addition to learning more about the legislative process and the education issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained valuable experience in the field of public service; and WHEREAS, Originally from Pharr, Ms. Sánchez is a second-year doctoral student at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is studying educational policy and planning; she is a Gates Millennium Scholar alumna and a Barbara Jackson Scholar, and she is a cofounder of Odisea, a nonprofit organization in the Rio Grande Valley that works with first-generation college students and their families; and WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan has performed her duties as an education fellow with skill and dedication, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commend Joanna D. Sánchez for her service as an education fellow in the office of State Representative Mary González and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Sánchez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
