| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life filled with meaningful achievements drew to a |

| 6 | 7 | | close far too soon with the passing of Karen Michelle Peterson of |

| 7 | 8 | | Fort Worth on March 8, 2015, at the age of 42; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on June 24, 1972, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the |

| 9 | 10 | | former Karen Raper was the daughter of Gary and Barbara Raper; she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | shared a rewarding relationship with her husband, Ron Peterson, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | she was the mother of three children, Megan, Joshua, and Katie, all |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | of whom she homeschooled; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Peterson found fulfillment in caring for her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | loved ones and was sustained by a deep and abiding religious faith; |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | for nearly five years, she volunteered with the American Heritage |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Girls Tx1171 as a squad leader, explorer unit leader, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | treasurer, and she believed strongly in the program's mission to |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | develop women of integrity through service to God, family, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | community, and country; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In the fall of 2013, Mrs. Peterson helped found |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | American Heritage Girls Troop Tx2415; the number chosen for the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | troop represented her favorite Bible verse, Joshua 24:15, which |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | reads, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"; she and her |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | husband also joined several other families in establishing a Trail |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Life USA troop, providing a similar faith-centered organization for |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | boys in the area; the couple shared a passion for service and gave |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | generously of their time and resources; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Always ready with a smile and a hug, this |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | warmhearted woman was a dear friend and a trusted listener who made |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | everyone feel appreciated; she delighted in the wonders of nature |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | and enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm with those around her; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Karen Peterson touched countless lives through her |

| 33 | 34 | | kind deeds and her selfless commitment to others, and she |

| 34 | 35 | | consistently embodied the virtues of the American Heritage Girls |

| 35 | 36 | | Creed: compassionate, loyal, responsible, honest, helpful, pure, |

| 36 | 37 | | resourceful, respectful, perseverant, and reverent; now, |
