| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Martinez, a junior at Gregory-Portland High |

| 6 | 7 | | School, was named the 2015 Mr. Windfest by the Portland Chamber of |

| 7 | 8 | | Commerce; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In preparation for Windfest, an annual event |

| 9 | 10 | | sponsored by the Portland Chamber of Commerce to celebrate spring, |

| 10 | 11 | | the chamber selected an outstanding male and female 11th-grade |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | student to represent the chamber and the festival; in his role as |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Mr. Windfest, Mr. Martinez will participate in other chamber |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | events throughout the year, and he will receive a scholarship; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez plans to begin his college education |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | this summer by taking dual credit courses in English, biology, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | government, and economics at Del Mar College; his goal is to take |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | pharmacy classes at Angelo State University; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, An outstanding student, Mr. Martinez is a member of |

| 19 | 20 | | the Gregory-Portland Y-Lead class, and he is involved with the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | athletics program as a student trainer; he has also developed an |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | interest in politics and hopes to travel to the State Capitol to |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | participate in the Senate's Sergeant-at-Arms program; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through hard work and a commitment to excellence, |

| 24 | 25 | | this outstanding young Texan has achieved a significant record of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | success, and he indeed deserves special recognition for his many |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Matthew Martinez on his selection |

| 29 | 30 | | as the 2015 Mr. Windfest and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
