| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founded on Independence Day in 1904, Kingsville is |

| 9 | 10 | | an important center of higher education in South Texas; Texas A&M |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | University--Kingsville, which opened as South Texas Teachers |

| 11 | 12 | | College in 1925, includes the Frank H. Dotterweich College of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Engineering, the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Agriculture, the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy; the university has |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | claimed seven national football championships and has been |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | recognized for its excellent environmental engineering program, |

|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Naval Air Station Kingsville features the premier |

| 19 | 20 | | undergraduate pilot training facility in the United States and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | prepares U.S. Navy and Marine Corps pilots for their key role in |

| 21 | 22 | | national defense; in recent years, the base has added an Army |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Reserve Medical Evacuation unit and an Armed Forces Reserve Center, |

| 23 | 24 | | and a U.S. Border Patrol facility is situated nearby; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Kingsville, along with the rest of Kleberg County, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | is a place of diversified industries; thanks to the presence of |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | companies producing oil, gas, nuclear, wind, and solar power, the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | area's economy has continued to grow, resulting in new jobs and an |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | improved quality of life for residents; among the businesses based |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | in Kingsville are Proco, Inc., and Texas Cementing Services; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The world famous King Ranch is located near |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Kingsville; larger than Rhode Island, King Ranch is known for |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | developing the Santa Gertrudis cattle breed and is also highly |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | respected for horse breeding and agribusiness; and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, The hardworking and forward-looking citizens of |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | Kingsville are building on a long tradition of development, and |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | their history and achievements are indeed deserving of special |
|---|
