R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the Del Mar College chapter of the Texas
Association of Chicanos in Higher Education have contributed to
their campus through many worthwhile endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1974, TACHE is a professional association
that strives to address the needs of and increase employment
opportunities for Hispanics in colleges and universities; and
WHEREAS, One of five regional chapters in Texas, the Del Mar
College chapter has played a vital role in advancing the mission of
its parent association; in addition to funding scholarships for
deserving students, chapter members are actively engaged in local,
state, and national organizations that advocate for a diverse
student body, faculty, and staff at institutions of higher
education; moreover, the chapter hosts cultural events during
Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month as well as a range
of other social functions throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Del Mar College chapter of TACHE have
helped foster diversity at their school and in the community at
large, and it is indeed fitting to recognize their outstanding
efforts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the Del Mar College chapter of the Texas
Association of Chicanos in Higher Education and extend to each of
its members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
