6 | 7 | | passing of Noe G. Contreras of Corpus Christi on April 17, 2015, at |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Noe Contreras was born to Donaciano and Maria Del |

9 | 10 | | Refugio Gonzalez Contreras in Riviera on October 22, 1925, and he |

10 | 11 | | grew up in Chapman Ranch as one of 10 siblings; and |
---|
11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Coming of age during World War II, Mr. Contreras |
---|
12 | 13 | | possessed the courage and initiative that defined the Greatest |
---|
13 | 14 | | Generation; he started basic training at 17 years old at Ft. |
---|
14 | 15 | | McClellan in Alabama and went on to attend advanced infantry |
---|
15 | 16 | | training at Ft. Benning in Georgia; fighting bravely on the Western |
---|
16 | 17 | | Front as a member of the 75th Infantry Division, he was wounded |
---|
17 | 18 | | during the Battle of the Bulge and was eventually discharged at Fort |
---|
18 | 19 | | Sam Houston in 1946; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding valor, he received |
---|
20 | 21 | | the Combat Infantryman Badge, three Purple Hearts, the |
---|
21 | 22 | | European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the Good |
---|
22 | 23 | | Conduct Medal; he was an at-large member of the Department of Texas |
---|
23 | 24 | | Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of Disabled American |
---|
24 | 25 | | Veterans in Corpus Christi; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Contreras moved to the Molina neighborhood in |

26 | 27 | | Corpus Christi in 1955; there, he enjoyed a rewarding family life |

27 | 28 | | with his wife, Alicia, and his three children, Rolando, Hope, and |

28 | 29 | | Esmeralda; with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his |

29 | 30 | | family grow to include 6 grandchildren, Sue, Ali, Angela, Andrea, |

30 | 31 | | Eric, and Olympia, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and a |

31 | 32 | | great-great-grandchild; and |

32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, A distinguished veteran and a devoted family man, |

33 | 34 | | Noe Contreras touched many lives during his journey on this earth, |

34 | 35 | | and those who shared in his warmth and affection will long hold him |

35 | 36 | | close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
