 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life came to a close with the
 passing of Noe G. Contreras of Corpus Christi on April 17, 2015, at
 the age of 89; and
 WHEREAS, Noe Contreras was born to Donaciano and Maria Del
 Refugio Gonzalez Contreras in Riviera on October 22, 1925, and he
 grew up in Chapman Ranch as one of 10 siblings; and
 WHEREAS, Coming of age during World War II, Mr. Contreras
 possessed the courage and initiative that defined the Greatest
 Generation; he started basic training at 17 years old at Ft.
 McClellan in Alabama and went on to attend advanced infantry
 training at Ft. Benning in Georgia; fighting bravely on the Western
 Front as a member of the 75th Infantry Division, he was wounded
 during the Battle of the Bulge and was eventually discharged at Fort
 Sam Houston in 1946; and
 WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding valor, he received
 the Combat Infantryman Badge, three Purple Hearts, the
 European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the Good
 Conduct Medal; he was an at-large member of the Department of Texas
 Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of Disabled American
 Veterans in Corpus Christi; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Contreras moved to the Molina neighborhood in
 Corpus Christi in 1955; there, he enjoyed a rewarding family life
 with his wife, Alicia, and his three children, Rolando, Hope, and
 Esmeralda; with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his
 family grow to include 6 grandchildren, Sue, Ali, Angela, Andrea,
 Eric, and Olympia, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and a
 great-great-grandchild; and
 WHEREAS, A distinguished veteran and a devoted family man,
 Noe Contreras touched many lives during his journey on this earth,
 and those who shared in his warmth and affection will long hold him
 close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Noe G. Contreras and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Alicia R. Contreras; to his son, Rolando Contreras, and his wife,
 Karen; to his daughters, Esperanza "Hope" Contreras and Esmeralda
 Barrientes and her husband, Manuel; to his grandchildren, Sue Ocuto
 and her husband, Jim, Ali Rengifo and her husband, Miguel, Angela
 and Andrea De La Garza, Eric De La Garza and his wife, Violet, and
 Olympia Garcia and her husband, Mike; to his 14 great-grandchildren
 and his great-great-grandchild; to his brothers, Ruben Contreras
 and his wife, Irene, and Juan Contreras and his wife, Corina; and to
 his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Noe
 G. Contreras.
