H.R. No. 2685
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Crawford Elementary School was nominated for the
prestigious Blue Ribbon School Award for the 2013-2014 school year;
and
WHEREAS, The Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created by the
U.S. Department of Education in 1982; to qualify for nomination,
schools must demonstrate academic superiority within their state or
show dramatic gains in student performance; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of principal Linda Stout,
Crawford Elementary has consistently met and exceeded state and
national targets for closing achievement gaps between student
groups; for 15 consecutive years, it earned a ranking of exemplary
from the Texas Education Agency, and its students have attained
outstanding TAKS and STAAR scores for nearly two decades; part of
the Crawford Independent School District, this notable educational
institution was one of only 26 public schools in the state to be
nominated for the award in 2014; and
WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication, the faculty and
students of Crawford Elementary School have established a record of
academic achievement, and their efforts were deservedly recognized
with this nomination; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Crawford Elementary School on
being nominated for the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon
School Award and extend to its teachers, students, and staff
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
