H.R. No. 2760 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Charles Hardy retired from Austin Industries in December 2014, after an outstanding tenure with the company that spanned 35 years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hardy managed the legal affairs of one of the largest general contractors in the nation as general counsel for Austin Industries; an expert in contract drafting and negotiation, he was responsible for many commercial, transportation, and industrial construction projects; he also helped develop the Zero Claim Project, a program designed to detect and prevent issues in order to minimize losses, claims, and litigation; and WHEREAS, For more than a quarter-century, this esteemed Texan mediated construction disputes as a member of the American Arbitration Association Panel of Construction Arbitrators; among the other organizations to benefit from his interest were the Associated General Contractors of America and the Construction Industry Ethics and Compliance Initiative; following his work with Austin Industries, he became of counsel to the construction law firm Slates Harwell; and WHEREAS, Respected and admired by his colleagues, Mr. Hardy received the Robert H. Dedman Award for Ethics and Law from the General Counsel Forum in 2013; he holds a bachelor of arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin as well as a juris doctor degree from St. Mary's University School of Law; and WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Charles Hardy has distinguished himself through his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby honor Charles Hardy for his 35 years of service to Austin Industries and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hardy as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
