H.R. No. 2793 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Waco Euterpean Club was recognized with a number of awards at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs centennial anniversary celebration, which took place March 19 through 21, 2015, in Brownwood; and WHEREAS, The event commemorated the meeting that was held in 1915 to unite the music clubs of Texas under the umbrella of the Texas Federation of Music Clubs; founded in 1894, Waco Euterpean is one of the oldest such groups in the state, and today, members continue to sponsor musical programs and initiatives throughout the community; and WHEREAS, Members of Waco Euterpean took home numerous state-level awards from the celebration, which included having their Parade of American Music Report sent on to national competition; honored as the number one club in Texas in outreach musical hours, the group saw one of its members, Jean Pinner, place first in that category as well; and WHEREAS, The members of the Waco Euterpean Club have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to musicianship and the arts in their community, and they may take pride in their spirited efforts and in the many well-deserved accolades they have received; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Waco Euterpean Club on its success at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs centennial celebration and extend to the club sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Waco Euterpean as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
