| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District |

| 7 | 8 | | Education Award at a special ceremony in Austin on May 3, 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The largest monetary recognition program for |

| 9 | 10 | | educators in Texas and one of the largest in the nation, this |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | notable endeavor bestows nearly $500,000 in cash and grants |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | annually to outstanding teachers, principals, and school |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | districts; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Superintendent Keith |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | McBurnett, Burnet CISD includes two high schools, a middle school, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and three elementary schools, and it has an enrollment of some 3,200 |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | students; the district has overcome the achievement gap between |

| 17 | 18 | | urban and rural populations through a number of groundbreaking |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | educational initiatives, including Advancement Via Individual |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Determination, a nationally recognized program that teaches |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | essential skills and behaviors for academic achievement, Project |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Lead the Way, a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics |

| 22 | 23 | | curriculum the district offers in grades 7 through 12, and Agile |

| 23 | 24 | | Mind's Intensified Algebra, an extended-period course designed to |

| 24 | 25 | | motivate students to succeed in mathematics; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The district is also dedicated to fostering |

| 26 | 27 | | cooperation between administrators and faculty members through |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | frequent feedback sessions and the Leadership Academy, where each |

| 28 | 29 | | participant heads an initiative in the campus improvement plan and |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Through their receipt of this prestigious award, |

| 32 | 33 | | Superintendent McBurnett and the trustees, teachers, and staff of |

| 33 | 34 | | the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District have been |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | recognized for their skill, hard work, and enduring commitment to |
