 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District
 was presented with the H-E-B Small School District Excellence in
 Education Award at a special ceremony in Austin on May 3, 2015; and
 WHEREAS, The largest monetary recognition program for
 educators in Texas and one of the largest in the nation, this
 notable endeavor bestows nearly $500,000 in cash and grants
 annually to outstanding teachers, principals, and school
 districts; and
 WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Superintendent Keith
 McBurnett, Burnet CISD includes two high schools, a middle school,
 and three elementary schools, and it has an enrollment of some 3,200
 students; the district has overcome the achievement gap between
 urban and rural populations through a number of groundbreaking
 educational initiatives, including Advancement Via Individual
 Determination, a nationally recognized program that teaches
 essential skills and behaviors for academic achievement, Project
 Lead the Way, a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
 curriculum the district offers in grades 7 through 12, and Agile
 Mind's Intensified Algebra, an extended-period course designed to
 motivate students to succeed in mathematics; and
 WHEREAS, The district is also dedicated to fostering
 cooperation between administrators and faculty members through
 frequent feedback sessions and the Leadership Academy, where each
 participant heads an initiative in the campus improvement plan and
 learns how to inspire change at their schools through
 conversations, readings, and presentations; and
 WHEREAS, Through their receipt of this prestigious award,
 Superintendent McBurnett and the trustees, teachers, and staff of
 the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District have been
 recognized for their skill, hard work, and enduring commitment to
 the children in their charge, and they may indeed take great pride
 in their achievement; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Burnet Consolidated
 Independent School District on its selection for the 2015 H-E-B
 Small School District Excellence in Education Award and extend to
 Superintendent Keith McBurnett and the district's trustees,
 faculty, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success with
 their important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
