45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Miss Mae's Bar-B-Que of Wimberley brought its savory
67 specialties to the State Capitol during the 84th Legislative
78 Session as one of the featured restaurants for "Bar-B-Quesday"; and
89 WHEREAS, Hosted on Tuesdays by State Representative Jason
910 Isaac, this popular event provides a showcase for some of the finest
1011 barbecue establishments from House District 45; and
1112 WHEREAS, The distinctive recipes featured at Miss Mae's
1213 Bar-B-Que originated with the grandmother of owner Steve Dunks;
1314 Miss Mae prepared barbecue for her family and the hands who worked
1415 on her ranch, and she went on to open the Red Barn Pit Bar-B-Que on
1516 the square in Wimberley in 1983; after her death in 1997, Mr. Dunks
1617 started his own restaurant and named it for his grandmother in order
1718 to carry on this flavorful family tradition; and
1819 WHEREAS, Texas barbecue is renowned across the nation and
1920 around the world, and this proud culinary tradition is maintained
2021 and enriched by outstanding Central Texas businesses such as Miss
2122 Mae's Bar-B-Que; now, therefore, be it
2223 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2324 Legislature hereby commend Miss Mae's Bar-B-Que for its
2425 participation in Bar-B-Quesday and extend sincere best wishes to
2526 Steve Dunks and his staff for continued success; and, be it further
2627 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2728 prepared for Miss Mae's Bar-B-Que as an expression of high regard by
2829 the Texas House of Representatives.
