5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on March |

6 | 7 | | 11, 2015, with the death of LaRone Therion Perry at the age of 79; |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, LaRone Perry was born in Houston on August 1, 1935, |
---|
9 | 10 | | to Forest Perry and Marjorie M. Dutton, and he grew up with a |
---|
10 | 11 | | sister, Forrest Mae, and a brother, Raymond; after graduating from |
---|
11 | 12 | | Phyllis Wheatley High School, he attended Texas Southern University |
---|
12 | 13 | | before joining the United States Navy; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Perry married the former Ouida Joyce Jackson in |
---|
14 | 15 | | 1959, and they shared more than five decades together, before her |
---|
15 | 16 | | death in 2011; the proud parents of two sons, Rory and Troy, the |
---|
16 | 17 | | couple were later blessed with three grandchildren, Roy, Darrion, |
---|
17 | 18 | | and Eryn; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, After serving his country for six years, Mr. Perry |
---|
19 | 20 | | received an honorable discharge from the navy, and he and his wife |
---|
20 | 21 | | moved to Chicago; he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 |
---|
21 | 22 | | years, earning many commendations, and subsequently for A. F. |
---|
22 | 23 | | Services; in his free time, he enjoyed music and photography; and |
---|
23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, A man of strong religious faith, Mr. Perry joined |
---|
24 | 25 | | Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Houston at an early age, and |
---|
25 | 26 | | at the time of his death, he was a member of Lilydale First Baptist |
---|
26 | 27 | | Church of Chicago; and |
---|
27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, LaRone Perry was a loving husband and a devoted |
---|
28 | 29 | | father and grandfather, and those who were privileged to share in |
---|
29 | 30 | | his love and friendship will always remember him with great |

30 | 31 | | admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it |

31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of LaRone Therion Perry |

33 | 34 | | and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
