 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Amber Moffitt of the Grand Prairie Independent
 School District has been honored at the White House in Washington,
 D.C., as a semifinalist in the 2015 American School Counselor
 Association Counselor of the Year competition; and
 WHEREAS, The lead counselor for the Young Men's Leadership
 Academy at Kennedy Middle School, Ms. Moffitt was previously
 selected as Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Texas
 Counseling Association, which nominated her for the ASCA award; she
 joined the YMLA faculty in 2012, having previously served as a
 counselor at Fannin Middle School; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Moffitt joined the district in 2006 as a
 kindergarten teacher at David Daniels Elementary Academy, and while
 serving in that capacity, she received her master's degree in
 school counseling from Dallas Baptist University; she also gained
 valuable experience as a counselor for the Grand Prairie Parks and
 Recreation S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Project; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of Grand Prairie High School, Ms. Moffitt
 completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Houston, and
 she is currently pursuing a doctorate in K-16 educational
 leadership and policy studies at The University of Texas at
 Arlington; she is the recipient of a Gates Millennium Scholarship,
 and her accolades include the 2014 Dallas Baptist University
 College of Education Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Dallas
 Urban Professionals Top 40 under 40 Educator Award; and
 WHEREAS, Amber Moffitt has demonstrated an exceptional
 commitment to helping young Texans reach their fullest potential,
 and in so doing, she has earned the respect and admiration of her
 colleagues and the appreciation of countless students; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Amber Moffitt on her selection as a
 semifinalist in the 2015 American School Counselor Association
 Counselor of the Year competition and extend to her sincere best
 wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Moffitt as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
