R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely death of K-9 partner Indy on February
15, 2015, at the age of six, brought a great loss to the Hidalgo
County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, A Belgian Malinois, Indy served the sheriff's office
for over four years; he was dedicated to his work, and he won the
admiration of the department for his productivity and his
aggressiveness in confronting the criminal element; and
WHEREAS, The passing of Indy also deeply saddened K-9
officers from across South Texas, who joined in celebrating the
contributions of this wonderful dog at a memorial ceremony; and
WHEREAS, Through his devotion to his duties, Indy embodied
the K-9 division's motto "Semper Cavere," meaning "forever on
guard," and although he is deeply missed, he will continue to hold a
special place in the hearts of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of K-9 partner Indy and
extend sincere sympathy to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.
