| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Allyn L. Archer retired from Holt Company of Texas |

| 6 | 7 | | on December 31, 2014, and the conclusion of his outstanding 43-year |

| 7 | 8 | | career provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this esteemed |

| 8 | 9 | | Texan; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of the Valley, Mr. Archer graduated from |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | McAllen High School and went on to attend The University of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Texas--Pan American; he joined the United States Air Force in 1967 |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and was stationed in Okinawa, California, and Texas before he was |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 1971, Mr. Archer began his career with Holt |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Company, the Caterpillar dealership in Central and South Texas, as |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | a service technician leadman; after gaining experience in sales and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | management positions, he was appointed executive vice president and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | general manager in 1986; he became a partner in 1993, and two years |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | later he was promoted to president and chief operating officer; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through Mr. Archer's astute leadership, Holt |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Company has grown from one of the smallest Caterpillar dealerships |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | in the country to the largest, based on sales volume, and HOLT CAT |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | now operates in 118 Texas counties from the Red River to the Rio |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Grande; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In addition to guiding a major business enterprise, |

| 26 | 27 | | Mr. Archer has been active in a number of important organizations, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | including the Texas Good Roads/Transportation Association, the |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club of San |

| 29 | 30 | | Antonio; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Allyn Archer's dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited Holt Company of |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Texas, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Allyn L. Archer on his retirement |
