H.R. No. 2853 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Allyn L. Archer retired from Holt Company of Texas on December 31, 2014, and the conclusion of his outstanding 43-year career provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this esteemed Texan; and WHEREAS, A native of the Valley, Mr. Archer graduated from McAllen High School and went on to attend The University of Texas--Pan American; he joined the United States Air Force in 1967 and was stationed in Okinawa, California, and Texas before he was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant; and WHEREAS, In 1971, Mr. Archer began his career with Holt Company, the Caterpillar dealership in Central and South Texas, as a service technician leadman; after gaining experience in sales and management positions, he was appointed executive vice president and general manager in 1986; he became a partner in 1993, and two years later he was promoted to president and chief operating officer; and WHEREAS, Through Mr. Archer's astute leadership, Holt Company has grown from one of the smallest Caterpillar dealerships in the country to the largest, based on sales volume, and HOLT CAT now operates in 118 Texas counties from the Red River to the Rio Grande; and WHEREAS, In addition to guiding a major business enterprise, Mr. Archer has been active in a number of important organizations, including the Texas Good Roads/Transportation Association, the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club of San Antonio; and WHEREAS, Allyn Archer's dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited Holt Company of Texas, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Allyn L. Archer on his retirement from Holt Company of Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Archer as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
