| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The AWARE Foundation is dedicated to promoting |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A volunteer organization formed in 1989, the AWARE |

| 10 | 11 | | Foundation hosts an annual awards banquet to honor Arlington ISD |

| 11 | 12 | | teachers in five grade-level categories; at the event, winners and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | runners-up are named for the prestigious Award of Excellence, and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | cash prizes of varying amounts are presented to all nominees; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through a process of classroom observation and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | interviewing, the foundation's selection committee undertakes the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | challenging task of choosing the most deserving educators for the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | accolade, and nominations are submitted by students, parents, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | fellow teachers, and other members of the community; in 2014, the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | foundation reported that it had honored more than 330 teachers and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | awarded cash prizes in excess of $377,000; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Quality educators play an essential role in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | preparing young people to become successful adults, and the members |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | of the AWARE Foundation are helping to ensure that these talented |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | and hardworking professionals are given the thanks they merit; now, |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend the AWARE Foundation for its efforts to |

| 28 | 29 | | encourage high standards of teaching in Arlington ISD schools and |

| 29 | 30 | | extend to all those affiliated with the organization sincere best |
