 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The AWARE Foundation is dedicated to promoting
 excellence in Arlington schools by recognizing teachers who
 demonstrate exceptional skill and innovation in their classrooms;
 and
 WHEREAS, A volunteer organization formed in 1989, the AWARE
 Foundation hosts an annual awards banquet to honor Arlington ISD
 teachers in five grade-level categories; at the event, winners and
 runners-up are named for the prestigious Award of Excellence, and
 cash prizes of varying amounts are presented to all nominees; and
 WHEREAS, Through a process of classroom observation and
 interviewing, the foundation's selection committee undertakes the
 challenging task of choosing the most deserving educators for the
 accolade, and nominations are submitted by students, parents,
 fellow teachers, and other members of the community; in 2014, the
 foundation reported that it had honored more than 330 teachers and
 awarded cash prizes in excess of $377,000; and
 WHEREAS, Quality educators play an essential role in
 preparing young people to become successful adults, and the members
 of the AWARE Foundation are helping to ensure that these talented
 and hardworking professionals are given the thanks they merit; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend the AWARE Foundation for its efforts to
 encourage high standards of teaching in Arlington ISD schools and
 extend to all those affiliated with the organization sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the AWARE Foundation as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
