| 8 | 9 | | International Film Festival, held in Houston April 10-18, 2015; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The university's Regents Professor of Criminal |

| 10 | 11 | | Justice, Dr. McClellan shared the award with her husband, |

| 11 | 12 | | Croatian-American filmmaker Nikola Knez, for their documentary |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Sunny's Story: Rape as an Instrument of Terror in the Balkan War; |

| 13 | 14 | | the film includes interviews with victims whose testimony has also |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | been preserved by the Hague Tribunal and the National Archives of |

| 15 | 16 | | Croatia; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. McClellan worked in Croatia from 2002 to 2004 as |

| 17 | 18 | | a scholar in the Fulbright Program of the United States Department |

| 18 | 19 | | of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs; she taught |

| 19 | 20 | | criminal justice at the University of Zagreb to a generation of |

| 20 | 21 | | students whose lives had been marked by the horrors of war, and she |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | interviewed soldiers and survivors of concentration camps; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In 2010, Dr. McClellan traveled to Croatia to |

| 23 | 24 | | organize an international conference for the Alliance of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Universities for Democracy, and in 2012, she returned to the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | University of Zagreb as a Fulbright Specialist, conducting research |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | and teaching about women and criminal justice; she and Mr. Knez |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | recorded the interviews for their film in 2013, and in that year, |

| 28 | 29 | | she organized a second international conference for AUDEM; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy McClellan has distinguished herself through |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | her professional endeavors, and she may indeed take pride in the |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | recognition accorded her documentary on an important issue in the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | field of international justice; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Dorothy McClellan on her |

| 35 | 36 | | receipt of a 2015 Platinum Remi Award from the 48th Annual |
