R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Mystical Mustangs of Gonzalez Elementary School
in Brownsville won the Destination Imagination Texas state
championship on April 11, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Destination Imagination is an international program
that promotes cooperation and creative problem solving among
students; teams compete to find innovative solutions to a variety
of challenges; and
WHEREAS, Taking first place in "Feary Tales," the event's
fine arts category, the Mystical Mustangs defeated 11 other teams
from across the Lone Star State to qualify for the Global Finals in
Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 21-22; and
WHEREAS, The talented group, which received valuable
guidance from teachers Shelly Barba and Michael Padron, includes
Ximena Villanueva, Omar Ortiz, Alexander Jones, Joshua Hernandez,
Evelyn Montoya, and Laura Lugo; and
WHEREAS, These notable young Texans are a source of great
pride to the Gonzalez Elementary School community, and it is indeed
a pleasure to honor the team on its outstanding accomplishment;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Gonzalez Elementary School
Mystical Mustangs on winning the 2015 Destination Imagination Texas
state championship and extend to the team's members best wishes for
success at the Global Finals; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
