5	6		WHEREAS, Carlos De La Peña has ably served his fellow Texans
6	7		as an assistant in the office of State Representative Poncho
7	8		Nevárez during the 84th Legislative Session; and
8	9		WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mr. De La Peña has provided
9	10		vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks,
10	11		including researching and preparing bills and resolutions for
11	12		committee hearings and working directly with constituents and
12	13		government officials; in addition to learning more about the
13	14		legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star
14	15		State, he has gained valuable experience in the field of public
15	16		service; and
16	17		WHEREAS, The son of Carlos and Veronica De La Peña, he is
17		-	currently in his junior year at St. Edward'
18		-	s University, where he
	18	+	currently in his junior year at St. Edwards University, where he
19	19		studies political science; he has benefited his community as a
20	20		volunteer at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Eagle Pass, and
21	21		he has worked as a legal aide for the Knickerbocker, Heredia, Jasso,
22	22		and Stewart law firm; in the future, he plans to attend law school
23	23		and pursue a career in politics; and
24	24		WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed his
25	25		duties as a legislative assistant with skill and dedication, and he
26	26		is indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now,
27	27		therefore, be it
28	28		RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
29	29		Legislature hereby commend Carlos De La Peña for his service as a
30	30		legislative assistant in the office of State Representative Poncho
31	31		Nevárez and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success
32	32		in all his endeavors; and, be it further
33	33		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
34	34		prepared for Mr. De La Peña as an expression of high regard by the
35	35		Texas House of Representatives.
