 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Carlos De La Peña has ably served his fellow Texans
 as an assistant in the office of State Representative Poncho
 Nevárez during the 84th Legislative Session; and
 WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mr. De La Peña has provided
 vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks,
 including researching and preparing bills and resolutions for
 committee hearings and working directly with constituents and
 government officials; in addition to learning more about the
 legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star
 State, he has gained valuable experience in the field of public
 service; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Carlos and Veronica De La Peña, he is
 currently in his junior year at St. Edward'
 s University, where he
 studies political science; he has benefited his community as a
 volunteer at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Eagle Pass, and
 he has worked as a legal aide for the Knickerbocker, Heredia, Jasso,
 and Stewart law firm; in the future, he plans to attend law school
 and pursue a career in politics; and
 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed his
 duties as a legislative assistant with skill and dedication, and he
 is indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Carlos De La Peña for his service as a
 legislative assistant in the office of State Representative Poncho
 Nevárez and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success
 in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. De La Peña as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
