| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Carolyn Sims of North Richland Hills is retiring as |

| 6 | 7 | | precinct administrator for Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes |

| 7 | 8 | | in 2015, drawing to a close a notable career in public service that |

| 8 | 9 | | has spanned more than two decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Holding a bachelor's degree and a master's degree |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | from the University of North Texas, Ms. Sims worked for 10 years as |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | an educator; she subsequently served as president of the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Arts |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Council of Northeast Tarrant County; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 2002, Ms. Sims became chief of staff for State |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Representative Vicki Truitt, and in 2004, she served the town of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Westlake as director of marketing and public affairs; in 2007, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | after a year as executive director of the Northwest Independent |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | School District Education Foundation, she was appointed precinct |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | administrator for Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes; as his |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | chief of staff, she worked with constituents in 17 cities and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | coordinated communication efforts, among other duties; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her busy professional life, Ms. Sims |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | has given back to her community as chair of the boards of Tarrant |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | County MHMR, the Northeast Leadership Forum, and Hugworks and as a |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | member of the boards of the Community Enrichment Center, the United |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Way, the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, the American Cancer |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Society, and many other organizations; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan's dedication, professionalism, |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Tarrant County and earned her the respect and admiration of her |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | peers, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, |

| 33 | 34 | | therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby commend Carolyn Sims on her many years of |

| 36 | 37 | | outstanding service to Tarrant County and extend to her sincere |
