 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Carolyn Sims of North Richland Hills is retiring as
 precinct administrator for Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes
 in 2015, drawing to a close a notable career in public service that
 has spanned more than two decades; and
 WHEREAS, Holding a bachelor's degree and a master's degree
 from the University of North Texas, Ms. Sims worked for 10 years as
 an educator; she subsequently served as president of the
 Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Arts
 Council of Northeast Tarrant County; and
 WHEREAS, In 2002, Ms. Sims became chief of staff for State
 Representative Vicki Truitt, and in 2004, she served the town of
 Westlake as director of marketing and public affairs; in 2007,
 after a year as executive director of the Northwest Independent
 School District Education Foundation, she was appointed precinct
 administrator for Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes; as his
 chief of staff, she worked with constituents in 17 cities and
 coordinated communication efforts, among other duties; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to her busy professional life, Ms. Sims
 has given back to her community as chair of the boards of Tarrant
 County MHMR, the Northeast Leadership Forum, and Hugworks and as a
 member of the boards of the Community Enrichment Center, the United
 Way, the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, the American Cancer
 Society, and many other organizations; and
 WHEREAS, This dynamic  Texan's dedication, professionalism,
 and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of
 Tarrant County and earned her the respect and admiration of her
 peers, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent
 as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Carolyn Sims on her many years of
 outstanding service to Tarrant County and extend to her sincere
 best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Sims as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
