45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A number of talented young men and women have
67 provided indispensable support as legislative interns in the office
78 of State Representative Eric Johnson during the 84th Legislative
89 Session; and
910 WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, these young Texans have
1011 handled a wide variety of challenging tasks for the office, which
1112 have included reading, analyzing, and researching bills and
1213 addressing the needs of constituents; in addition to learning more
1314 about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the
1415 Lone Star State, they have gained valuable experience in the field
1516 of public service; and
1617 WHEREAS, Mariam Ahmed, the daughter of Irfan and Nousheen
1718 Ahmed, is a first-year master's student in the Lyndon B. Johnson
1819 School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas; she looks
1920 forward to continuing her work in policy research as part of a
2021 career with a government agency or nonprofit organization; and
2122 WHEREAS, The daughter of Jana and Jerry Alexander, Hannah
2223 Alexander is currently studying at the School of Law at UT, having
2324 graduated with a Spanish and political science double major and a
2425 minor in philosophy; after completing law school, she hopes to
2526 specialize in civil rights impact litigation; and
2627 WHEREAS, Kayla Davis, who is also a student at the UT School
2728 of Law, is the daughter of Carol and Alan Davis; she previously
2829 earned a degree in economics from Emory University and is planning
2930 to practice law in Dallas; and
3031 WHEREAS, The daughter of Ali and Stephanie Elbanna, Mary
3132 Elbanna is a participant in the UT-Dallas Legislative Internship
3233 Program and has served as a staffer for the House Committee on
3334 Economic & Small Business Development; she expects to graduate with
3435 her degree in political science in the spring of 2016 and intends to
3536 pursue a career in the realm of law and public service; and
3637 WHEREAS, A freshman in the School of Public Affairs at UT,
3738 Daniel Khalil is the son of Ali Khalil and Rosemarie Heusinger; he
3839 plans to eventually specialize in social and economic policy, to
3940 earn his master's degree, and to work either in Texas or in
4041 Washington, D.C.; and
4142 WHEREAS, Antoinette Mays is an alumna of St. Mary's
4243 University School of Law and the daughter of Angela and Herman
4344 Baxter; she joined the staff as a participant in the Energy and
4445 Environmental Law Internship Program, with her responsibilities
4546 encompassing research into those topics, and she hopes to find
4647 employment with an energy company and specialize in regulatory and
4748 compliance issues; and
4849 WHEREAS, The son of Mallerick and Loretta Warnell, Mallerick
4950 "Rick" Warnell II is taking part in the Texas Legislative
5051 Internship Program; he is currently a senior at Lamar University,
5152 where he is working toward a bachelor's degree in psychology; and
5253 WHEREAS, The members of this notable group have performed
5354 their duties as legislative interns with great skill and diligence,
5455 and they are indeed deserving of special recognition for their fine
5556 work; now, therefore, be it
5657 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
5758 Legislature hereby commend the legislative interns who have served
5859 in the office of State Representative Eric Johnson and extend to
5960 each of them sincere best wishes for continued success in all their
6061 endeavors; and, be it further
6162 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
6263 for Ms. Ahmed, Ms. Alexander, Ms. Davis, Ms. Elbanna, Mr. Khalil,
6364 Ms. Mays, and Mr. Warnell as an expression of high regard by the
6465 Texas House of Representatives.
