| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A number of talented young men and women have |

| 7 | 8 | | of State Representative Eric Johnson during the 84th Legislative |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, these young Texans have |

| 10 | 11 | | handled a wide variety of challenging tasks for the office, which |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | have included reading, analyzing, and researching bills and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | addressing the needs of constituents; in addition to learning more |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Lone Star State, they have gained valuable experience in the field |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | of public service; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mariam Ahmed, the daughter of Irfan and Nousheen |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Ahmed, is a first-year master's student in the Lyndon B. Johnson |

| 18 | 19 | | School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas; she looks |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | forward to continuing her work in policy research as part of a |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | career with a government agency or nonprofit organization; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Jana and Jerry Alexander, Hannah |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Alexander is currently studying at the School of Law at UT, having |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | graduated with a Spanish and political science double major and a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | minor in philosophy; after completing law school, she hopes to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | specialize in civil rights impact litigation; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Kayla Davis, who is also a student at the UT School |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | of Law, is the daughter of Carol and Alan Davis; she previously |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | earned a degree in economics from Emory University and is planning |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | to practice law in Dallas; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Ali and Stephanie Elbanna, Mary |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Elbanna is a participant in the UT-Dallas Legislative Internship |

| 32 | 33 | | Program and has served as a staffer for the House Committee on |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Economic & Small Business Development; she expects to graduate with |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | her degree in political science in the spring of 2016 and intends to |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | pursue a career in the realm of law and public service; and |

| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, A freshman in the School of Public Affairs at UT, |

| 37 | 38 | | Daniel Khalil is the son of Ali Khalil and Rosemarie Heusinger; he |

| 38 | 39 | | plans to eventually specialize in social and economic policy, to |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | earn his master's degree, and to work either in Texas or in |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | Washington, D.C.; and |
|---|
| 41 | 42 | | WHEREAS, Antoinette Mays is an alumna of St. Mary's |

| 42 | 43 | | University School of Law and the daughter of Angela and Herman |
|---|
| 43 | 44 | | Baxter; she joined the staff as a participant in the Energy and |
|---|
| 44 | 45 | | Environmental Law Internship Program, with her responsibilities |
|---|
| 45 | 46 | | encompassing research into those topics, and she hopes to find |
|---|
| 46 | 47 | | employment with an energy company and specialize in regulatory and |
|---|
| 47 | 48 | | compliance issues; and |
|---|
| 48 | 49 | | WHEREAS, The son of Mallerick and Loretta Warnell, Mallerick |
|---|
| 49 | 50 | | "Rick" Warnell II is taking part in the Texas Legislative |
|---|
| 50 | 51 | | Internship Program; he is currently a senior at Lamar University, |
|---|
| 51 | 52 | | where he is working toward a bachelor's degree in psychology; and |

| 52 | 53 | | WHEREAS, The members of this notable group have performed |
|---|
| 53 | 54 | | their duties as legislative interns with great skill and diligence, |
|---|
| 54 | 55 | | and they are indeed deserving of special recognition for their fine |

| 55 | 56 | | work; now, therefore, be it |

| 56 | 57 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 57 | 58 | | Legislature hereby commend the legislative interns who have served |

| 58 | 59 | | in the office of State Representative Eric Johnson and extend to |

| 59 | 60 | | each of them sincere best wishes for continued success in all their |
