45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Dee Koch has made immeasurable contributions to Fort
67 Bend County and beyond through her exemplary service with the
78 George Foundation; and
89 WHEREAS, In 1988, Ms. Koch was appointed as the George
910 Foundation's grant officer, a role that involves evaluating
1011 potential investments in area nonprofit organizations and
1112 providing recommendations to the board of trustees for grant
1213 consideration; since that time, the foundation has awarded more
1314 than 1,800 grants totaling over $135 million to help locally
1415 address such vital issues as health and human services, education,
1516 youth services, and community enhancements; and
1617 WHEREAS, Ms. Koch's duties have additionally included
1718 overseeing the disbursement of more than $20 million in
1819 scholarships to area students as well as heading a number of
1920 projects in behalf of the George Memorial Library, AccessHealth,
2021 the University of Houston Sugar Land, Memorial Hermann, the Mamie
2122 George Community Center, and the Fort Bend Museum; and
2223 WHEREAS, Today, Ms. Koch serves the foundation as director of
2324 community engagement, and she has further distinguished herself by
2425 establishing two worthwhile initiatives: the Youth in Philanthropy
2526 program, which provides volunteer opportunities for local junior
2627 and senior high school students, and the Leadership for Nonprofit
2728 Excellence program, which assists leaders and board members of
2829 nonprofits in enhancing their organizational governance and
2930 efficacy; and
3031 WHEREAS, For more than a quarter-century, Dee Koch has worked
3132 tirelessly to advance the mission of the George Foundation, and in
3233 so doing, she has made a lasting, positive difference in the lives
3334 of her fellow residents; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3536 Legislature hereby commend Dee Koch for her exceptional work with
3637 the George Foundation and extend to her sincere appreciation for a
3738 job well done; and, be it further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for Ms. Koch as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4041 House of Representatives.
