 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dee Koch has made immeasurable contributions to Fort
 Bend County and beyond through her exemplary service with the
 George Foundation; and
 WHEREAS, In 1988, Ms. Koch was appointed as the George
 Foundation's grant officer, a role that involves evaluating
 potential investments in area nonprofit organizations and
 providing recommendations to the board of trustees for grant
 consideration; since that time, the foundation has awarded more
 than 1,800 grants totaling over $135 million to help locally
 address such vital issues as health and human services, education,
 youth services, and community enhancements; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Koch's duties have additionally included
 overseeing the disbursement of more than $20 million in
 scholarships to area students as well as heading a number of
 projects in behalf of the George Memorial Library, AccessHealth,
 the University of Houston Sugar Land, Memorial Hermann, the Mamie
 George Community Center, and the Fort Bend Museum; and
 WHEREAS, Today, Ms. Koch serves the foundation as director of
 community engagement, and she has further distinguished herself by
 establishing two worthwhile initiatives: the Youth in Philanthropy
 program, which provides volunteer opportunities for local junior
 and senior high school students, and the Leadership for Nonprofit
 Excellence program, which assists leaders and board members of
 nonprofits in enhancing their organizational governance and
 efficacy; and
 WHEREAS, For more than a quarter-century, Dee Koch has worked
 tirelessly to advance the mission of the George Foundation, and in
 so doing, she has made a lasting, positive difference in the lives
 of her fellow residents; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Dee Koch for her exceptional work with
 the George Foundation and extend to her sincere appreciation for a
 job well done; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Koch as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
