 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The citizens of Mount Pleasant lost an admired civic
 leader with the passing of former mayor William Clark Chambers on
 August 16, 2014, at the age of 75; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Ewing and Josephine Harlow Chambers, Bill
 Chambers was born in Jasonville, Indiana, on September 9, 1938;
 though he began his life in Indiana, he later moved to North Texas
 and made the city of Mount Pleasant his home; there, he owned his
 own business, Chambers Pharmacy, and cofounded American National
 Bank of Mount Pleasant; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Chambers began his career in public service in
 1972, when he was elected to the Mount Pleasant Independent School
 District Board of Trustees, which he served on for a total of nine
 years; he subsequently ran for mayor and won, ousting an incumbent
 in 1995; during his tenure in office, he was instrumental in the
 construction of Heritage Park, a 60-acre recreation facility
 featuring a pavilion, sports fields, and fishing piers; and
 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Chambers enjoyed the
 support of a loving family that included his wife, Rosalie, his two
 sons, William and Tim, his daughter, Melissa, and his six
 grandchildren; he was also sustained by his faith, and he was a
 valued member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant; and
 WHEREAS, Bill Chambers built a life that was rich in family,
 friends, and accomplishments, and he will long be fondly remembered
 by all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William Clark
 Chambers and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
 to his wife, Rosalie Chambers; to his sons and daughters-in-law,
 William and Cathy Chambers and Tim and Veronica Chambers; to his
 daughter, Melissa Whitehead; to his grandchildren, David, Anthony,
 and Michael Chambers, Krystin and Blayne Henke, and Madison
 Whitehead; to his brother, Gene Chambers; and to his other
 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William
 Clark Chambers.
