8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, SADD works to encourage students from kindergarten |

9 | 10 | | through high school to make smart choices, and it provides tools to |

10 | 11 | | help students who face problems of drug use, underage drinking, |

11 | 12 | | impaired driving, and other actions associated with destructive |

12 | 13 | | decisions; and |

13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Ingleside High School SADD group, which was |

14 | 15 | | established in 2009, has engaged in a variety of projects over the |

15 | 16 | | years to address such issues; members organized an annual Tobacco |

16 | 17 | | Free Kids Day Silent March, with each year's theme focusing on a |
---|
17 | 18 | | different tobacco statistic, and they recently hosted a Celebration |
---|
18 | 19 | | Vocal March; one year the group planned a Drug Free Family Fun Day |

19 | 20 | | that drew nearly 1,000 citizens; additionally, students arrange Red |

20 | 21 | | Ribbon Week activities, and they have invited speakers to come to |

21 | 22 | | their school and talk about the dangers of texting and driving; they |

22 | 23 | | also held a Tobacco Free Walk to raise money for the American Cancer |

24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The young Texans participating in the Ingleside High |

25 | 26 | | School Students Against Destructive Decisions events have |

26 | 27 | | distinguished themselves through their dedication to these worthy |

27 | 28 | | endeavors, and they indeed deserve special recognition for their |

28 | 29 | | commitment to the greater good; now, therefore, be it |

29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commend Ingleside High School Students Against |
