H.R. No. 680
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Robert Recio and his family are reopening their
popular Corpus Christi restaurant, Recio's Smokehouse and
Catering, at a new location; and
WHEREAS, At its former location on Kostoryz Road, this unique
eatery has long been known for its mega-taco challenge; since 1999,
hundreds of determined diners have tried to finish the restaurant's
signature four-pound taco in 13 minutes; and
WHEREAS, The Recio family are carrying on this tradition at
the smokehouse's new location on Old Brownsville Road, where they
have also built an outdoor stage and dance floor in order to host
live entertainment; and
WHEREAS, Locally owned enterprises contribute greatly to the
economic and cultural diversity of their communities, and the new
location of Recio's Smokehouse and Catering promises to attract
both old and new customers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the reopening of Recio's Smokehouse
and Catering and extend sincere best wishes to Robert Recio and his
family for continued success in their new location; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
