| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Peter Salazar, firefighter II inspector, has been |

| 6 | 7 | | named the 2015 Prevention Officer of the Year by the Corpus Christi |

| 7 | 8 | | Fire Department; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi Fire Department serves a |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | population of more than 300,000 and covers 170 square miles; the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Fire Prevention Bureau works to protect citizens from the loss of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | life and property by educating the public about fire safety and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | ensuring fire codes are enforced, among other responsibilities; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Salazar joined the fire department in 1982 and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | has spent most of the past 33 years with the Fire Prevention Bureau; |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | in addition to being a licensed peace officer, he is a certified |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | fire inspector and arson investigator, and through his exemplary |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | skill and dedication, he has made an immeasurable contribution to |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the successful closing of a number of high profile fire cases; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his career with the bureau, Peter |

| 20 | 21 | | Salazar has greatly benefited the people of Corpus Christi, and he |

| 21 | 22 | | has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters; |

| 22 | 23 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
