| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The New Room, home of Feed Lake Highlands food |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Part of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, the |

| 9 | 10 | | New Room provides residents who are food-insecure with food and |

| 10 | 11 | | educational opportunities; in collaboration with Crossroads |

| 11 | 12 | | Community Services and other organizations, the New Room hosts |

| 12 | 13 | | classes on a variety of topics, including financial literacy, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | emotional well-being, and nutrition; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through Feed Lake Highlands, the New Room |

| 15 | 16 | | distributes food as part of the North Texas Food Bank; because of |

| 16 | 17 | | the efforts and dedication of its outstanding volunteers, Feed Lake |

| 17 | 18 | | Highlands is able to serve nearly 300 citizens each month; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, With the worthy goals of creating a beneficial |

| 19 | 20 | | social and learning environment and helping to alleviate hunger, |

| 20 | 21 | | the New Room makes valuable contributions in behalf of the citizens |

| 21 | 22 | | of the Lake Highlands region, and everyone involved indeed merits |

| 22 | 23 | | special recognition for their achievements and service; now, |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby commend the New Room for its community service |

| 26 | 27 | | and extend to all those who participate in the programs of the |

| 27 | 28 | | organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
