H.R. No. 745
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The New Room, home of Feed Lake Highlands food
distribution program, works to offer valuable services for area
residents; and
WHEREAS, Part of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, the
New Room provides residents who are food-insecure with food and
educational opportunities; in collaboration with Crossroads
Community Services and other organizations, the New Room hosts
classes on a variety of topics, including financial literacy,
emotional well-being, and nutrition; and
WHEREAS, Through Feed Lake Highlands, the New Room
distributes food as part of the North Texas Food Bank; because of
the efforts and dedication of its outstanding volunteers, Feed Lake
Highlands is able to serve nearly 300 citizens each month; and
WHEREAS, With the worthy goals of creating a beneficial
social and learning environment and helping to alleviate hunger,
the New Room makes valuable contributions in behalf of the citizens
of the Lake Highlands region, and everyone involved indeed merits
special recognition for their achievements and service; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the New Room for its community service
and extend to all those who participate in the programs of the
organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the New Room as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
