H.R. No. 932
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated companies play an
essential role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and those
enterprises that build a record of dependability and longevity are
indeed deserving of recognition; and
WHEREAS, Established in June 1989, MG's Pizza in Robstown is
owned by Melody T. Garver, who manages the family-friendly business
with the help of her 12 employees; over the years, the restaurant's
pizza and sandwiches have gained a loyal following in Robstown and
the surrounding area, and MG's Pizza gives back to the community by
sponsoring area sports teams and contributing to fund-raising
events; and
WHEREAS, A longtime restaurateur, Ms. Garver continues a
tradition of excellence that traces back to 1963, when her parents,
Betty and Jerry Garver, started B&J's Pizza in Lake George,
Michigan; the family also operated other locations in Michigan
before moving to Texas in 1978 and opening a restaurant in Corpus
Christi; and
WHEREAS, By creating jobs and helping to strengthen the
economic environment of Robstown, MG's Pizza is contributing to the
vitality of that community, and Melody Garver and her staff may
indeed take pride in the restaurant's achievements over the course
of a quarter-century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby honor MG's Pizza as a noteworthy member of the
local business community and extend to all those associated with
the restaurant sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for MG's Pizza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
