 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on October
 18, 2014, with the death of Dr. Richard Earl Morris of Arlington at
 the age of 83; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Morris was born on September 25, 1931, in
 Woodward, Oklahoma, to Winfield and Sylvia Morris; after graduating
 from Woodward High School in 1949, he answered his nation's call to
 duty and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950; and
 WHEREAS, In 1955, Richard Morris enrolled at the University
 of Oklahoma, and he graduated from the university's school of
 medicine in 1963; that same year, he embarked on his medical career
 as an intern at Dallas Methodist Hospital, and in 1964, he began his
 residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital; he joined the
 Anesthesiology Association of Arlington in 1967 and received his
 board certification in 1970; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Morris returned to Parkland in 1972 as an
 associate professor and as the burn unit's head of anesthesiology;
 the following year, he joined the staff of Dallas Children's
 Hospital, where he served as head of anesthesiology for the next 11
 years; in 1984, he returned to private practice with the
 Anesthesiology Association of Arlington, and he retired in 2007;
 and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Morris enjoyed the love
 and support of his wife, Ann, and of his three daughters; and
 WHEREAS, While the death of Richard Morris brings
 immeasurable sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a
 record of exemplary service that will long be treasured by all those
 who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Earl Morris
 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
 wife of 47 years, Ann Morris; to his daughters, Janna Morris, Shelly
 Beasecker, and Tami Morris; to his grandchildren, S. Christopher
 Shipe, Jaquelyne Shipe, Garrett Elliott, Richard Beasecker, and
 Mitchell Beasecker; to his sister, Opal Dunsworth; and to his other
 relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
 Dr. Richard Earl Morris.
