7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Chapter 651, Government Code, is amended by | |
9 | 9 | adding Section 651.011 to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 651.011 AT-WILL STATE EMPLOYMENT Notwithstanding | |
11 | 11 | any other law, and unless otherwise expressly noted in statute, all | |
12 | 12 | state employees are employed on an at-will basis. Neither a state | |
13 | 13 | agency nor a state employee is legally liable for ending the | |
14 | 14 | employment relationship, unless the employment was terminated for | |
15 | 15 | an unlawful reason as expressly defined under federal or state law. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
