| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 52.095, Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 52.095. PROPOSITIONS. (a) Except as otherwise |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | provided by law, the authority ordering an election in which more |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | than one measure is to be voted on shall determine the order in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | which the propositions are to appear on the ballot. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (b) Each proposition on the ballot shall be assigned a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | unique number that corresponds to the order in which it is placed on |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the ballot based on the following: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) numbers 1 through 99 shall be assigned to state |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | propositions; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) numbers 101 through 199 shall be assigned to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | county ballot propositions; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (3) numbers 201 through 299 shall be assigned to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | municipal propositions; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (4) numbers 301 through 499 shall be assigned to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | school district propositions, with the county clerk assigning each |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | school district its own number range, as applicable; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (5) numbers 501 through 699 shall be assigned to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | junior college district propositions, in the same manner numbers |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | are assigned to school district propositions; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (6) numbers 701 through 799 shall be assigned to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | hospital district propositions; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (7) numbers 801 through 899 shall be assigned to other |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | special district propositions; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (8) numbers 901 through 999 shall be assigned to |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | miscellaneous propositions. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | (c) The secretary of state shall prescribe procedures |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | necessary to implement this section. |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
