 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the numbering of local and state propositions on the
 ballot.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 52.095, Election Code, is amended to
 read as follows:
 Sec. 52.095.  PROPOSITIONS. (a) Except as otherwise
 provided by law, the authority ordering an election in which more
 than one measure is to be voted on shall determine the order in
 which the propositions are to appear on the ballot.
 (b)  Each proposition on the ballot shall be assigned a
 unique number that corresponds to the order in which it is placed on
 the ballot based on the following:
 (1)  numbers 1 through 99 shall be assigned to state
 propositions;
 (2)  numbers 101 through 199 shall be assigned to
 county ballot propositions;
 (3)  numbers 201 through 299 shall be assigned to
 municipal propositions;
 (4)  numbers 301 through 499 shall be assigned to
 school district propositions, with the county clerk assigning each
 school district its own number range, as applicable;
 (5)  numbers 501 through 699 shall be assigned to
 junior college district propositions, in the same manner numbers
 are assigned to school district propositions;
 (6)  numbers 701 through 799 shall be assigned to
 hospital district propositions;
 (7)  numbers 801 through 899 shall be assigned to other
 special district propositions; and
 (8)  numbers 901 through 999 shall be assigned to
 miscellaneous propositions.
 (c)  The secretary of state shall prescribe procedures
 necessary to implement this section.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
