77 relating to docket preference for trials in which the alleged
88 victim is younger than 14 years of age.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Article 32A.01, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 Art. 32A.01. TRIAL PRIORITIES. (a) Insofar as is
1313 practicable, the trial of a criminal action shall be given
1414 preference over trials of civil cases, and the trial of a criminal
1515 action against a defendant who is detained in jail pending trial of
1616 the action shall be given preference over trials of other criminal
1717 actions not described by Subsection (b).
1818 (b) Unless extraordinary circumstances require otherwise,
1919 the trial of a criminal action in which the alleged victim is
2020 younger than 14 years of age shall be given preference over other
2121 matters before the court, whether civil or criminal.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
