117 relating to the eligibility of Elite Rodeo Association World
128 Championships for funding from the Major Events trust fund.
139 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1410 SECTION 1. Sections 5A(a)(4) and (5), Chapter 1507 (S.B.
1511 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article
1612 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), are amended to read as
1713 follows:
1814 (4) "Event" means a Super Bowl, a National Collegiate
1915 Athletic Association Final Four tournament game, the National
2016 Basketball Association All-Star Game, the X Games, the National
2117 Hockey League All-Star Game, the Major League Baseball All-Star
2218 Game, a game of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Bowl
2319 Championship Series or its successor or a National Collegiate
2420 Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision
2521 postseason playoff or championship game, a World Cup Soccer game,
2622 the World Games, an Elite Rodeo Association World Championship, a
2723 national collegiate championship of an amateur sport sanctioned by
2824 the national governing body of the sport that is recognized by the
2925 United States Olympic Committee, an Olympic activity, including a
3026 Junior or Senior activity, training program, or feeder program
3127 sanctioned by the United States Olympic Committee's Community
3228 Olympic Development Program, a mixed martial arts championship, the
3329 Breeders' Cup World Championships, a Formula One automobile race,
3430 the Academy of Country Music Awards, the National Cutting Horse
3531 Association Triple Crown, a national political convention of the
3632 Republican National Committee or the Democratic National
3733 Committee, or the largest event held each year at a sports
3834 entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
3935 capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of not less
4036 than 125,000. The term includes any activities related to or
4137 associated with an event.
4238 (5) "Site selection organization" means:
4339 (A) the National Football League, the National
4440 Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Basketball
4541 Association, the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, the
4642 Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the
4743 International World Games Association, the Elite Rodeo
4844 Association, or the United States Olympic Committee;
4945 (B) the national governing body of a sport that
5046 is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the National
5147 Thoroughbred Racing Association, Formula One Management Limited,
5248 or the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile;
5349 (C) the Academy of Country Music;
5450 (D) the National Cutting Horse Association; or
5551 (E) the Republican National Committee or the
5652 Democratic National Committee.
5753 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
5854 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
5955 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
6056 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
6157 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
