| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 437.058, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | amending Subsections (a), (d), (e), and (f) and adding Subsection |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | (d-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a) The adjutant general may appoint as general officers one |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | or more [an] assistant deputy adjutants [adjutant] general for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | army, an assistant deputy adjutant general for air, an assistant |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | [deputy] adjutant general for homeland security, and an assistant |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | [deputy] adjutant general for domestic operations [government |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | affairs]. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (d) The assistant deputy adjutants [adjutant] general for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | [the] army shall support the deputy adjutant general for [the] |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | army, represent the command staff at events as needed, and manage |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the activities assigned by the adjutant general or the deputy |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | adjutant general for [the] army. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (d-1) The assistant deputy adjutant general for air shall |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | support the deputy adjutant general for air, represent the command |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | staff at events as needed, and manage the activities assigned by the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | adjutant general or the deputy adjutant general for air. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (e) The assistant [deputy] adjutant general for homeland |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | security [the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard], as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | determined by the adjutant general, shall: |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (1) coordinate with other state agencies in matters |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | pertaining to homeland security [to ensure state emergency services |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | are provided and organized to support the state operations center]; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (2) coordinate homeland security actions taken by the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | National Guard Bureau in this state. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (f) The assistant [deputy] adjutant general for domestic |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | operations [the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard, as |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | determined by the adjutant general,] shall: |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (1) coordinate activities of the Texas military forces |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | with the National Guard Bureau to ensure state emergency services |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | are provided and organized to support the state operations center; |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | and |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (2) coordinate with other federal, state, and local |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | jurisdictions and officials [funding and coordination with other |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | federal, state, and local jurisdictions and officials in matters |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | relating to the operations of the Texas military forces occurring |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | in the assistant deputy adjutant general's jurisdiction or |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | oversight]. |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
