A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to increasing the optional county fee for registering a
motor vehicle.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 502.401(a), Transportation Code, is
amended to read as follows:
(a) The commissioners court of a county by order may impose
an additional fee, not to exceed $20 [$10], for registering a
vehicle in the county.
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
the optional county fee for a registration period beginning on or
after the effective date of this Act. An optional county fee for a
registration period beginning before the effective date of this Act
is governed by the law in effect when the registration period began,
and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
