55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the collection of a complete set of fingerprints from
88 certain applicants for driver's licenses.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 521.142, Transportation Code, is amended
1111 by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (j) to read as
1212 follows:
1313 (b) The application must include:
1414 (1) except as provided by Subsection (j), the
1515 thumbprints of the applicant or, if thumbprints cannot be taken,
1616 the index fingerprints of the applicant;
1717 (2) a photograph of the applicant;
1818 (3) the signature of the applicant; and
1919 (4) a brief description of the applicant.
2020 (j) An application of a person who is a legal permanent
2121 resident of the United States, a refugee or asylee lawfully
2222 admitted into the United States, or a temporary visitor lawfully
2323 present in the United States must include a complete set of the
2424 applicant's fingerprints.
2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
