5	5		WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
6	6		mutual devotion and shared experiences, and the Honorable Jerry
7	7		Madden and Barbara Madden of Richardson are celebrating this joyous
8	8		milestone in their marriage on June 20, 2015; and
9	9		WHEREAS, Jerry Madden and the former Barbara Schumalkaswki
10	10		were joined in matrimony in 1965 at a ceremony held at Saint Mary's
11	11		Catholic Church in Schenectady, New York; through the years, they
12	12		have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their
13	13		children, Jerry Madden, Stephanie Barzellone and her husband, Adam,
14	14		and Kristina Fischer and her husband, Josh, as well as their
15	15		grandchildren, Samantha, Alisa, Joey, Sara, and Logan; and
16	16		WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Legislature for 20 years and
17	17		the highly regarded chair of the House Corrections Committee,
18	18		Mr. Madden began his political career in 1984 as the chair of the
19	19		Collin County Republican Party; he had served in the United States
20	20		Army and worked for Texas Instruments and Teledyne Geotech before
21	21		operating Jerry Madden Insurance from 2000 to 2008; Mrs. Madden
22	22		worked as a nurse at Richardson General Hospital and then at
23	23		Heritage Manor Nursing Home for 20 years; and
24	24		WHEREAS, For more than 40 years, Mr. and Mrs. Madden have
25	25		been active citizens of Richardson and Collin County; Mr. Madden
26	26		has been involved as a leader with numerous veteran and civic
27	27		organizations, and he is currently a senior fellow for Right on
28	28		Crime at the Texas Public Policy Foundation; Mrs. Madden delights
29	29		in spending time with their grandchildren, and the couple are
30	30		valued congregants at Saint Mark's Catholic Church; and
31	31		WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Madden have enjoyed five decades of
32	32		abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an
33	33		exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
34	34		commitment; now, therefore, be it
35	35		RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas
36	36		hereby congratulate Jerry and Barbara Madden on the occasion of
37	37		their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
38	38		wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
39	39		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
40	40		prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Madden as an expression of high regard by
41	41		the Texas Legislature.
