No. 52 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of mutual devotion and shared experiences, and the Honorable Jerry Madden and Barbara Madden of Richardson are celebrating this joyous milestone in their marriage on June 20, 2015; and WHEREAS, Jerry Madden and the former Barbara Schumalkaswki were joined in matrimony in 1965 at a ceremony held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Schenectady, New York; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their children, Jerry Madden, Stephanie Barzellone and her husband, Adam, and Kristina Fischer and her husband, Josh, as well as their grandchildren, Samantha, Alisa, Joey, Sara, and Logan; and WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Legislature for 20 years and the highly regarded chair of the House Corrections Committee, Mr. Madden began his political career in 1984 as the chair of the Collin County Republican Party; he had served in the United States Army and worked for Texas Instruments and Teledyne Geotech before operating Jerry Madden Insurance from 2000 to 2008; Mrs. Madden worked as a nurse at Richardson General Hospital and then at Heritage Manor Nursing Home for 20 years; and WHEREAS, For more than 40 years, Mr. and Mrs. Madden have been active citizens of Richardson and Collin County; Mr. Madden has been involved as a leader with numerous veteran and civic organizations, and he is currently a senior fellow for Right on Crime at the Texas Public Policy Foundation; Mrs. Madden delights in spending time with their grandchildren, and the couple are valued congregants at Saint Mark's Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Madden have enjoyed five decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate Jerry and Barbara Madden on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Madden as an expression of high regard by the Texas Legislature.
