54 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
65 proposing a constitutional amendment relating to the right to hunt,

87 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
98 SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by
109 adding Section 34 to read as follows:
1110 Sec. 34. (a) The people have the right to hunt, fish, and
1211 harvest wildlife, including by the use of traditional methods,
1312 subject to laws or regulations to conserve and manage wildlife and
1413 preserve the future of hunting and fishing.
1514 (b) Hunting and fishing are preferred methods of managing
1615 and controlling wildlife.
1716 (c) This section does not affect any provision of law
1817 relating to trespass, property rights, or eminent domain.
1918 (d) This section does not affect the power of the
2019 legislature to authorize a municipality to regulate the discharge
2120 of a weapon in a populated area in the interest of public safety.
2221 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2322 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 3, 2015.
2423 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2524 proposition: "The constitutional amendment recognizing the right
2625 of the people to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife subject to laws
2726 that promote wildlife conservation."
