SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1002 WHEREAS, Laurie M. Glaze is retiring as the founding executive director of One Voice Texas in June 2015, and this occasion provides an ideal opportunity to recognize her for an exemplary career spanning three decades in health and human services; and WHEREAS, In 2003, One Voice Texas was established to unite the efforts of health and human services organizations striving to meet community needs in a time of scarce resources; under the leadership of Laurie Glaze, the organization has grown to include more than 100 member organizations working together to develop systemic solutions and create sustainable models for the delivery of services; and WHEREAS, She previously served as managing director of Adoptation, a collaborative of eight child-placing agencies and Harris County Children's Protective Services; in 2007, she was named Texas Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers, and in 2009, she received the Advocate of the Year Award from the Houston Area Association for the Education of Young Children, as well as the SAVVY SISTER Award from Houston Woman Magazine; she holds a master's degree in social work from the University of Houston; and WHEREAS, Through her vision, skill, and dedication, Laurie Glaze has earned the respect and admiration of the health and human services community, and as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life, she may indeed take pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby honor Laurie Glaze on the occasion of her retirement as executive director of One Voice Texas and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
