| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join |

| 3 | 3 | | the Build a Better Texas Coalition and the Workers Defense Project |

| 4 | 4 | | in observing February 25, 2015, as the Day of the Fallen; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On the Day of the Fallen, groups are gathering in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Austin to honor the men and women who have died in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | construction-related accidents and to promote workplace safety |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | in the construction industry; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Build a Better Texas Coalition is a group of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | businesses, community and faith-based organizations, and other |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | individuals dedicated to fostering workplace safety; they support |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | such measures as adequate safety training and rest breaks for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | construction workers and workers' compensation insurance; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The construction industry plays a significant |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | role in the Texas economy, with nearly one million Texans working |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in the field, and workplace safety has become a serious issue |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | throughout the state; more construction workers die in Texas than |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in any other state, and one in every five construction workers in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Texas suffers an injury that requires medical attention; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A strong and sustainable construction industry is |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | essential to the economic prosperity of our state; it is truly |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | fitting that efforts be made to uphold the highest of standards |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | in workplace safety in Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby join Texans across the state in observing |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | February 25, 2015, as the Day of the Fallen, in memory of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | thousands who have died in construction-related accidents; and, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
